No, really, this IS my life....

Ever have one of those weeks.....

.....Where you just kind of sit there wondering, at the end, if it really happened? Well, one of my closest friends just had one, and I feel so incredibly bad that it happened. Seriously, I'm not sure how much worse it could have gotten in 4 days. She drove out here from a neighboring state after work, which, between the 2 of us, we have done probably 100 times. Well, this time, she took out the guard rail on a blind turn going down a mountain, and totaled (I mean TOTALED!) her little car. And, if the guard rail had NOT been there, she would have ended up at the bottom of about a 100 foot drop. Yeah, not a great choice either way, but.... Anyway, she's calls me at midnight and I head up to get her (she was about an hour away). Honest to God, when I got there, I almost threw up. I do not understand how neither her nor her son were injured. It looked like they should have been in the hospital. So, needless to say, she had a crappy morning, talking to her insurance, trying to get all that settles. Next comes trying to rent a car. Not easy to do last minute without a credit card. But she succeeded, and at least had transportation. All went well until baby daddy drama, and we'll just say that he is an ass, and needs to grow up. She didn't need that on top of everything else this weekend. I'm just hoping that this won't make her decide not to come out here anymore. Just next time, get some sleep first and leave in the morning, ok?!?!

How exactly do you spell.....

...a scream? Augh? Aurgh? Yaaugh? Whatever the stupid spelling, that is what I am doing right now. So in a previous post, I mentioned that all I want is one week, vomit-and-fever free, right? Well, right. Like I could be so lucky. Last week Friday, Lexi has a temp and is puking all over the used-to-be-new and spotless carpet. Got her over that. Pick Ian up from school, and, TADA! Puking and a fever. Now you understand why I was trying to spell a yell. On top of the sickos here, Alexis is a brat. There is no other way to put it. She has gotten to be incredibly spoiled, and has an attitude that any teenege girl would be proud of. So now I get to wage battle against a 2 year old, to fight the tantrums and hitting and throwing, and see if I can rediscover the sweet little girl that I gave birth to. If I lose, how humiliating. I won't be able to show my face again among all the other parents. So, at this point, I am thinking that a strawberry Margarita would be good.

I feel so old!!

So, today, at approximately 2:43 in the afternoon, my beautiful baby boy turned...6. 6. That age now requires 2 hands to count it out. He's not free at places anymore. I AM OLD!! Well, I feel old! But I am so proud of him. He really has turned out to be a fairly well adjusted kid, so we must be doing something right. And here I go getting all maudlin, but I swear to God, it was just yesterday that he was in diapers, and crawling, and it is so hard to realize that he is growing up. And, we are so overprotective (I've been told, so I must be!) that I am not handling it well. People say all the time, he's 6, let him do such-and-such by himself. But I get so worried. I don't let him go through a place to go to the bathroom by himself, we walk him there, and Steve goes in too. I usually start to freak out if I'm the only parent there, and he goes in by himself. I feel so neurotic, but I do watch the news, so it's hard to relax. What am I going to do when he's a teenager? AUGH!!! I need a drink or Prozac or Valium or something! How did our parents handle this???

Ok, so this is still not that interesting, but, HOLY CRAP!! My entire household has been waging war on the flu virus and various others like it since January 2. To date, I have had the flu 3 times, in addition to what I am certain was bronchitis with a touch of strep. My husband, Steve, has had strep, the common cold, and food poisoning. (not sure where that came from) Then there are my kids, who have managed to catch the flu several times, and currently, they BOTH have strep. Ian has a rash caused by the strep as well (not pretty) and Alexis has a severe ear infection. Now, here we come to the major problem. We happened to pick an insurance plan where we have to pay out of pocket until we hit our deductible, which is $3600.00. Frickin' lovely. This week alone cost us $260.00. At this rate, we'll hit the deductible by the end of March, which is not a good thing. I swear, can't the virus' just vacate my house!!! One week with no fevers or vomiting is all I ask!!

Yes, life CAN be this boring....

Not really sure what possessed me to start a blog. I mean, how exciting can life as a stay at home mom really be? But, here I am listening to ticklemepink, so we'll see what happens after the weekend. Hopefully I don't bore you too bad!
